Environment Nature Images: "Our Nature Image Gallery"
Gallatin Valley Cliffs

Some of the best places to photograph nature and wildlife are the Rocky Mountains of North America. The Rockies are 3,000 miles long and stretch from northern British Columbia to New Mexico. Some of the notable National Parks located in the Rockies are Rocky Mountain National Park, Glacier National Park, Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, Grand Teton National Park and of course the crown jewel of all the world's protected environments, Yellowstone National Park.

The Rockies have always been a favorite source for nature photographers. These images from Naturesnap.com are from Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and the National Parks of the Rockies. Nature has no season so we try to portray all four seasons as they occur. The Rockies provide the outdoor photographer unlimited landscapes opportunities often with wildlife in their natural environment.

In the spring, the mountain environment comes alive. The snow melts, the rivers rise, rainbows are common, aspens and cottonwoods grow leaves, songbirds arrive and wild babies are born. For wildlife photographers the spring and fall is the season of images.

During the summer, the mountain states are a magnet for not just photographers but all outdoor enthusiasts. The temperature is perfect, wildflowers are in bloom, there is an abundance of green scenery, waterfalls are ripping and wildlife can sustain. For summer photographers, your best image is dawn and dusk. Wildlife do not like the heat of the summer day.

The fall season arrives around late September and will last to about early November. Elk are in rut, birds begin their travels, bears intensify their feeding and most of the wildlife begin their pre-winter ritual. For many nature photgraphers, the fall colors are a highlight for the entire year.

Winter can be long in the mountain states, yet for the nature photographer, it is another opportunity to capture the season of solitude. While nature itself presents snow laced scenic wonders, for wildlife it is a relentless barrier for daily survival. Nothing captures the essence of winter existence more than the solitary coyote wandering along a snow covered river bank or a bison swaying its colossal head shovelling a snow drift to get a morsel of grass.

Our NatureSnap site is designed to be simple and relaxing just like nature itself, we hope these images encourage you to enjoy the outdoors and protect our environment.
